Brace yourselves,

because there are MP3s for sale on this very blogsite.

Both Road Trip and MyHope, the two originals, available now.

I spent all night setting the E-Junkie store up, so I’m having a hard time finding words to zazz that offer up

but now it’s there.

I’m going to sleep now. Good night, internet.

DON’T PANIC.

As some of you have already reminded me, I have been accepted into this round of Quick Stop Entertainment’s Masters Of Song Fu (third from the bottom, beeyotch).

This week’s challenge is to write a happy song.
I don’t see how I could muster that, as I am SO FREAKED OUT.

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be drowning my sorrows in this here Tree Top.

And sad to say, as of today, no crab rangoons have been thrown.

I discover new things about myself all the time. Among the more recent discoveries:
→ When I’m nervous, my appetite is zilch, and I pee every 15 minutes.
→ I’m terrible at keeping blogs updated.
→ I’m terrible at keeping my phone charged.
→ Seattle and Portland seem to like me.

Some of the videos are already hitting the internuts, but I took a break from being my boring self this weekend and played two shows with Jonathan Coulton and Paul & Storm (I doubt most of you actually need those links), at the Moore Theater in Seattle on Friday, and then the Aladdin Theater in Portland on Saturday. I didn’t mention it on the YouTube or elsewhere because JoCo didn’t mention it, and so it was kept on the down-low.

I have a YouTube playlist going of other persons’ footage from the event. So far it’s a work in progress, and I titled it “kicking the Northwest in the teeth” (and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible, Pacific northwest. ♥) I’m waiting on a video of the “Toxic” in Portland, with baited breath.

It’s always an honor to tag along with the power trio — I can’t really thank them enough for being as genial and entertaining as they are, and letting me go to fantasy camp every so often. I had a blast.

I’ve found that the manic peak from job-shadowing nerd stars is coupled with the crushing dread returning to normal life, but I’m learning how to come down a little softer each time.

WHOA

I’m going to make a video about it soon, but I have 10,000 YouTube subscribers.

Project For Awesome

WHOA

Should I have posted about this earlier? Yeah, probably.

DFTBA

In regards to this “album” business you people keep talking about, I have taken the first step and hopped on board with a record label, DFTBA Records. They’ve given me my own artist bio page here, and even a section of my own in the forums.

Now all I have to do is write songs…

A Christmas Carol

The obligatory holiday video.

This one is special because it can also be viewed in higher quality.
(I can’t join the 16:9 revolution because my iMovie is incapable as such, but this works too.)

There were some technical difficulties with the first video (i.e. the sound was only coming out of the left speaker) but I fixed it.

DON’T PANIC. MOLLY’S GOTCHA COVERED.

I wish I got a medal or something every time this happened.

ME
Holy crap!
ROOMMATE LISA
What?
ME
I have the #34 Most Discussed video in the “Howto & Style” category of YouTube right now.
LISA
“Most Disgust”?
ME
Yeah!… Most Discussed as in “discussion,” not “disgust” as in bleh.
LISA
Okay. Because, dang… that would’ve been quite the backlash.

I don’t like to make political statements either.

I originally wrote this up to read as a vlog, but the day ran away from me and so I’m just going to give you what would’ve been the transcript. I know it’s kind of late, as most of the eastern precincts have already closed.

But here goes nothing.

I know better than to discuss party politics in my YouTube videos. Something as innocuous as a montage of me stupidly punning on a candidate’s name was enough to turn people against me in the comments and say very hateful things about my candidate.

As insincerely as I may have presented my answer, you know that I support Obama. Apart from agreeing with about 75% of the things he says and promises, he makes me happy when he talks, he makes me care about America again. You might say that this is a dumb reason to vote for someone and it hinges largely on pathos, but from what a lot of people said in support of McCain in the comments pathos seems to be the biggest thing we listen to when we vote. “He seems like a patriotic all-around good guy.” “He cares about America.” Not to call anyone out — The candidates know it, otherwise they wouldn’t quarrel over who is truly BFFs with a hardworking archetypal everyman like Joe The Plumber.

I’m voting —I voted, yesterday, absentee— for Obama. Really, I would like to see him win. But that’s not what I’m talking to you about. I don’t care who you’re voting for: just vote. We talk up a storm about how our country is so great because we have the right to participate and to elect our leaders, and how we have to push this system onto other countries, and yet we get these dismal voter turnouts year after year after year. Say what you will about how the act of voting is merely symbolic, how we’re seeing a new age of corporate interest and political machines rigging the system and rendering our votes meaningless, and how the media has turned presidential campaigns into a joke and a spectacle.

You have to put that aside and you have to just vote.

The only thing worse than a country bitterly divided between liberals and conservatives, red states and blue states, a country in which everyone talks up their opinions while never listening to the opinions of others, is a country in which nobody stands for anything.

Then again, this is my first election, so what do I know?

Political Science, and miscellaneous housekeeping

I’m going to try and post more often from now on. Having all this work to procrastinate will surely help matters on this front.

A couple new things to mention:

1. I have an Eventful page. I’ve actually had it for a while (someone else made it and I claimed it later), and recently I’ve actually gotten behind the proverbial steering wheel. So I’ll be paying attention to what numbers and places I get, which isn’t to say that I’m planning on tour soon since I don’t have the financial means, which brings us to point 2…

2. You may or may not have noticed I installed a tab called “Feed Me“, which directs you to a page with a PayPal donation link. I’m not going to run it like a pledge drive (e.g. If I get $1,000 I’ll perform something by TuPac or what have you), but think of it as a tip jar. (And FYI, I’m keeping all the email addresses of anyone who’s donated thus far, and they are eligible for gratitude-related goodies that are yet undetermined by me…)

3. I was reluctant to mention this until I saw it confirmed here and here, and I will eventually announce this in a YouTube video but my blog reader people should get the inside scoop: If all goes according to plan, I will be playing musical interludes for John Green (of Brotherhood 2.0) at the reading and signing of his new book Paper Towns. I understand that Kristina of FiveAwesomeGirls will be there too, and there will be other surprises, and happy dancing, and pants.
